Chip Sheppard is chair of the Cannabis/Marijuana Law Group and a member of the Litigation/Dispute
Resolution and Transactional Practice Groups of Carnahan Evans PC. A substantial portion of Mr. Sheppard's practice, as Chair of the Cannabis Law Group, is focused on Missouri's newest industries: medical, adult-use, and micro-business marijuana: representing businesses around the United States navigating the newest Article to the Missouri Constitution and related regulations.
Mr. Sheppard was instrumental in the birth of the MOMMJ industry as one of the editors of
Constitutional Amendment 2 and 3 from 2015-2022, explaining its provisions to local groups and potential clients, and raising money for the 2016, 2018 & 2022 campaigns. He has been a business lawyer since 1983; is the Chair of his firm’s Marijuana and Hemp Law Group (7 of the 18 members of the firm); and was recently named Lawyer of the Year by Missouri Lawyers Weekly (2019), for his MMJ initiative work. His involvement in legal associations, community organizations, and cannabis industry groups provides insight, expertise, and leadership to both the MoCann Trade Board of Directors and its Government Affairs Committee.
